Caritas House

Caritas House in Morgantown, WV, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing, healthcare, and support services to those in need. The redesigned logo captures their mission of compassion and community, with a modern and approachable look that enhances their brand identity. This refreshed design ensures clarity, recognition, and impact across digital and print platforms, reinforcing Caritas House’s role as a trusted source of support in the Morgantown community.

My Process

Concept & Research

I began by researching Caritas House’s mission and values, focusing on themes of care, community, and advocacy. The goal was to modernize the logo while preserving its warmth and local connection. I looked into non-profit branding and symbolism that conveys support and protection.

Typography & Layout

The typography was kept clean and approachable to reflect trust and clarity. I opted for a bold sans-serif typeface for legibility, pairing it with generous spacing to give the logo a calm, balanced presence. The layout centers the text within the logo shape to reinforce a feeling of shelter and unity.

Color & Symbolism

The updated red tones reference the original logo while introducing a warmer, more welcoming palette. The feather symbolizes care and support, while the house shape remains central to maintain recognition. The ribbon detail on the feather subtly nods to Caritas House’s advocacy work without overwhelming the design.

Graphic Elements & Final Adjustments

I refined the feather and house shape to feel more cohesive and modern, using simplified forms and better alignment. Adjustments were made to ensure the logo worked across formats—whether in print, online, or signage—preserving clarity at every size. The final result is a refreshed identity that feels professional yet personal.
