Elevating Local Identity :
A Website Redesign for Virginia Avenue Liquors

Understanding the Problem and Designing for Impact
Key UX Problems
The website lacks navigation, product information, and essential details like store hours and location. It’s not mobile-friendly, visually outdated, and doesn’t reflect the store’s personality or purpose.
User Pain Points
Users struggle to find basic information quickly. There’s no way to browse product types, view specials, or easily contact the store. On mobile, the experience is disjointed and unclear.
UX Design Goals
Redesign the site with clear navigation, accessible store info, and organized product categories. Prioritize a mobile-friendly layout, add visual appeal, and reflect the brand’s local, welcoming identity.

Mapping the User Journey and Site Architecture
The site map outlines the full structure of the Virginia Avenue Liquors website, organizing content into clear categories based on user needs—like browsing products, placing event orders, and accessing store information. This helped guide the navigation design and ensured a seamless, intuitive user experience from the ground up.
Wireframing and Enhancing the User Experience
The wireframes laid the foundation for the site’s layout and user flow, focusing on content hierarchy, functionality, and intuitive navigation. Each key page—Home, Products, Events, Visit Us, and Contact—was designed to meet user needs while supporting business goals, ensuring a smooth experience before moving into visual design.

Final Design
The final design offers a clean, modern look that highlights products and improves navigation. Bold visuals and organized categories make browsing easy, while a streamlined layout enhances the user experience across devices. The design reflects the brand’s personality and supports both everyday shoppers and event clients.
Conducting Research and Building Empathy
User Personas
I developed three key personas:
• A regular customer looking for quick pickup info
• A party planner needing product variety and availability
• A college student seeking deals and convenience
These helped me understand different user priorities and expectations.
User Journeys
I mapped typical user flows, such as finding store hours, browsing products, or looking for current specials. These journeys revealed pain points like missing info, poor mobile access, and lack of product visibility.
Key User Needs
Users want a mobile-friendly site with clear store info, easy-to-navigate product categories, visible specials, and a more welcoming, updated design that reflects the local, friendly vibe of the store.
