Sculpture Tour

Designed to promote a university-hosted public sculpture event, this poster blends bold typography with vibrant colors and modern layout. The design aims to capture the creativity and movement of sculpture while drawing attention to the details of the event with strong visual hierarchy. It balances playfulness with structure to reflect both the academic and artistic nature of the tour.

My Process

Concept & Research

This event celebrates public art, so I researched outdoor sculpture exhibitions and studied modern art promotional materials to understand how they convey movement and creativity. The goal was to create a design that felt energetic, artistic, and inviting to a wide audience.

Typography & Layout

I built the composition around a large, deconstructed “S” to symbolize sculpture and visual form. The vertical title placement draws the viewer’s eye downward, creating a sense of flow. I used a clear typographic hierarchy to ensure readability while still maintaining strong visual rhythm.

Color & Contrast

The bold teal and orange color palette was chosen to reflect vibrancy, creativity, and energy. These colors not only help the poster stand out but also subtly align with West Virginia University’s branding, reinforcing the academic context of the event.

Graphic Elements & Final Adjustments

Once the visual structure was in place, I made precise refinements to alignment, spacing, and sizing to ensure balance across the layout. The final design was formatted for both digital and print use, making it versatile for event promotion in multiple formats.
